Did you hear about the magic tractor? It turned into a field !!

Thoughts from Sandie

In March we raised an amazing £184 in our collection tin and £60 in our monthly raffle. Thank you for your continued generosity.
The weather seems to be finally picking up and I have even spent some time sitting in my garden. Hopefully it won’t be long until the first family BBQ of 2023.

I think it’s now time to start planting my new potatoes, cucumbers and tomatoes.

I hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend with friends and family.

Thoughts from Ron

In this day and age of technology which those of us a mature age were not brought up with and therefore struggle with, it is easy to get taken advantage of.

If you are struggling with something, just ask your grandchildren and they sort it in minutes.

There are however some very clever and very unscrupulous people who would sooner take advantage of someone than do an honest day’s work.

I thought I was fairly tech savvy but was recently taken advantage of by a text from my daughter asking me to pay a bill for her.
The problem was that is wasn’t from my daughter it was a scam.

Fortunately, the fraud people at the bank recovered my money and so another lesson was learned without cost.

All the while I was talking to the fraud people the one thought that was going through my mind was “WHY DIDN’T I CHECK”.
I knew about telephone calls that look like they are from the police or your bank but are not.

I didn’t know about texts being changed.

Sad to say you cannot trust what your mobile phone is showing you on your screen, one thing you can do if you have any doubt no matter how small is always CHECK CHECK CHECK.

Ring them from your contact list,so you know it is really them.

If you have a call from someone you don’t recognise claiming to be from your bank or the police, check with them using another phone because they can stay on your phone even though you have rang off.

DON’T BE AFRAID TO CHECK

Don’t forget these dates:

Thursday May 4th is local elections voting day, Christ Church will be a polling station, so we will not be able to run that day, we will be running the club that week on WEDNESDAY the 3rd May.

It is our Coronation Party so don’t forget to wear Red White and Blue. Start planning your outfit now.
