Thoughts from Sandie
What lovely weather we have been having, it was especially hot on Stone Festivals Carnival Saturday. That week had started with me hosting a Teddy Bears picnic in the Market Square. I saw Tony and Ethne everyday during festival week, they enjoyed attending many of the events.
Thank you to you all for supporting the Grand Prize Draw for Stone Festival, unfortunately no one from the club won, but 2 at Andy’s work and 3 from a club Jane and I are in called Inner Wheel did.

Father's Day
Many of us will have been celebrating Father's Day recently, either being treated by our off-spring or as in my case, remembering our dearly loved departed Fathers no longer with us. (My own Father actually died on Father's Day many years ago.)
The first ever Father’s Day happened in 1908 when a West Virginian Church held a special sermon honouring fathers, after 362 men were killed in a mining accident. Parishioners gave out flowers, both red and white to honour the living and the dead, in commemoration of all that our fathers do for us.
The United Kingdom started observing Father's Day after President Richard Nixon signed the date into law back in 1972. Other Countries around the globe mark the occasion at different times but the UK and USA share the same date.
When my two sons and I arrived in Spain to start our new life living there, we unfortunately arrived on Spain's Father's Day, it is one of their biggest religious festivals and no shops are allowed to open. We had to drive miles to find anywhere to buy a few basic essentials.
We ended up getting totally ripped off at a petrol station just getting some bread, butter and drinks.
I hope that you all had joyous celebrations on your own special Father's Day.
Don’t forget these dates:
