Thoughts from Sandie

Working together to raise funds for our club, we have raised £165 this month in our collection tin, and £40 on our monthly raffle, thank you all for supporting these new initiatives.

We had Barry Smith from St Michaels Masonic Lodge present us with a cheque for £100. Freda Tams also came to present us with a cheque for £100 which she has raised for us by making her beautiful cards.

Ethne and Tony went to the Stone Festival Committee Meeting and received a cheque for £150 for the club.

We now have a website, its address is:- stonealzheimersclub.mywebcommunity.org - many thanks to Graeme, for doing this for the club

Thoughts from Barry

After the excellent contribution last month of Sandie and Martin, I thought that perhaps it was time for a punter as it were, so here goes.

Margaret and I joined the Group exactly a year ago in October 2021 and first impressions were not too good i.e. It was all old people, then of course it dawned on us that they were all our age.

We came along with our good friends Dilys and Joe who have helped us on our journey and soon got to know people, with some real surprises.

60 years ago shortly after our marriage, we bought our first house in Gloucester and although we did not know it at the time, round the corner from us lived Irene and Les.  Another shock was to find that when talking to Pauline, her David was born in Darlington, the same as Margaret and I.

Now let me say what the drop-in means to us. It is a kind of lifeline of friends who are having the same problems as we are going through and therefore understand our frustrations and worries. A support network very much a family. In addition the lovely band of volunteers for whom nothing is too much trouble and are always there with a warm embrace.

We really look forward to Thursdays and would not miss it for the world, don’t publicise it too hard Sandie or it may become too successful.

Don’t forget these dates:

15th December - Our Christmas Party. Stafford Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Philip Leason MBE, JP and Mrs

Edith Leason will be joining us.

22nd December - Club Closed.

29th December - Club Closed.
